Position overview

Blackpeak is hiring a Mainland China Human Resources Officer to be based in our Shanghai office. The position will provide support and assist in human resources functions for our offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. The main responsibilities are:

  • Handle all aspects of Compensation and Benefit operations including calculation and administration of payroll, PRC social insurance and housing fund (五险一金) and Individual Income Tax (个人所得税), benefits administration, etc.
  • Develop and maintain frequent communication with third party vendors in HR services
  • Handle employee household (户口) registration of returning overseas students, foreigner work visa application and renewal, and assist with relevant work benefit applications
  • Identify recruitment and training needs by liaising closely with office heads and managers in PRC
  • Address recruitment needs through advertisements, job fairs, campus hiring, recruitment talk and online recruitment, as necessary
  • Assist in contract administration, new staff orientation and induction, performance management
  • File, maintain and update employee records regularly
  • Handle and assist in other ad-hoc human resources as required.

Requirements and Skills


  • University level education, preferably in Business Administration, Human Resource Management or relevant fields
  • Minimum 3 years’ solid experience in human resources. Candidate with experience in PRC payroll function is highly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic internet research
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese, ability to also communicate in Shanghainese and/or Cantonese is an advantage
  • Well versed in labor regulations and relevant statutory requirements, such as PRC Employment Contract Law, social insurance and housing fund policy, etc.
  • Familiar with the operation procedure of social insurance and housing fund.
