Position overview

Blackpeak Group is seeking a full-time researcher based in its Shanghai office as part of the Greater China and Northeast Asia risk management team.

Focused primarily on Mainland China and Taiwan, the researcher will be required to conduct intensive English and Chinese language research, including analysis of media and other open source public records information, in support of the team’s commercial and reputational due diligence and business research projects. You will be expected to be familiar with and effectively utilize all internal and external information resources available to help prepare project reports, including writing summaries of research findings.

Skills and experience required

This would be an office-based position requiring strong research skills, analytical curiosity and relevant experience. We are particularly interested in the following skillsets and competencies:

  • Native or complete fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese including reading, writing and speaking
  • Ability to carry out thorough and detail oriented research and analysis that provides a comprehensive view on the subject
  • Strong analytical mindset required, including critical thinking and problem solving
  • Effective communication skills required – written and oral ability to communicate research findings, and more complex concepts in discussion with clients and case managers
  • A solid understanding of the business environment in China and issues affecting investors
  • Must be able to meet deadlines, prioritize workload and multi-task under pressure
  • Interest in and ability to work as a part of a multinational team in English and Mandarin Chinese, and may include working with colleagues in other offices and countries
  • Relevant experience in journalism, analysis, consulting, and/or other research positions will be very useful
